What is a tact switch
A tact switch consists of four parts: a cover, an actuator, a contact dome, and a base. Its core features are momentary action and tactile feedback. Inside a tactile switch is typically a tiny metal spring. When the actuator is pressed, the spring spring rotates, connecting the circuit; when the device is released from the actuator, it automatically springs back, disconnecting the circuit.
Features of Tact Switch
I. Clear Tactile Feedback: A tact switch provides a distinct tactile feedback and a "click" sensation when pressed, allowing the user to clearly perceive that the switch has been activated. This feedback comes from the instantaneous rebound of the internal metal spring or thin-film structure.
II. Short Travel and Fast Response: Tact switches typically have a short travel distance and a concentrated trigger point, allowing for rapid signal switching upon pressing. This fast response makes them ideal for high-frequency operation.
III. Compact Size and Low Profile: The compact size and low profile of tact switches enhance internal layout flexibility, making them suitable for installation in thin, lightweight electronic products, especially in designs with limited PCB space.
IV. Stable Electrical Performance: Tact switches are commonly used for low-voltage, low-current signal control, featuring stable contact resistance and reliable conductivity, allowing direct integration with microcontrollers and control boards.
